Organisers
National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS)
NUHCS at NUH brings together the resources, expertise and capabilities in the areas of Cardiology, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery to better meet the needs of the growing number of patients with heart disease. NUHCS also works closely with National Healthcare Group (NHG) polyclinics and GP members of NHG Partners to ensure seamless care for patients with heart problems. This is coordinated with undergraduate and post-graduate teaching, training of specialised groups involved in the care of patients, and high-level research.
The Cardiac Department at NUH offers a full array of cardiology services provided by a team of highly skilled cardiologists and clinicians. It aims to deliver excellent, cost-effective and evidence-based patient care, as well as educate patients, nurses, medical students and doctors on the principles and practice of cardiovascular diseases.
Our strengths lie in several key services, notably in interventional cardiology, non-invasive imaging services (including echocardiography, nuclear imaging, magnetic resonance and computed tomographic coronary angiography) and congenital heart diseases.
The Department of Cardiac, Thoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS) has a team of outstanding cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons specialising in a wide range of adult and paediatric surgeries and treatment, each tailored for the individual needs of the patient.

Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI)
The SCAI promotes excellence in invasive and interventional cardiovascular medicine through physician education and representation, and the advancement of quality standards to enhance patient care.
The SCAI began in 1976 under the guidance of Drs F Mason Sones and Melvin P Judkins. These scientists, whose contribution permitted the development and implementation of invasive cardiology, foresaw the need for an organisation which would service and advance the discipline further. The Society is the primary professional association for invasive and interventional cardiologists.
On June 5, 1978, SCAI held its First Annual Meeting. It instituted a committee structure designed to develop new information which would be used to promote and guide future laboratory activities. Emphasis was placed on registration of all procedures performed by members, development of quality standards for laboratories, establishment of criteria for credentialing physicians and directors and presentation of guidelines for training in cardiac catheterization and angiography.
SCAI now has a membership of over 4,300 adult and pediatric interventional cardiologists. There are currently 30 committees which are open to all members. Focus areas for SCAI include establishing standards and guidelines for all aspects of
cardiac catheterization and angiography, training, credentialling, safety and quality
assurance for cardiac procedures.

Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC)
The APSIC aims to promote interventional cardiology, particularly in the field of coronary intervention in the Asia Pacific area.
The Society was registered on 17 November 2000 and comprises members from the Asian Pacific area and the diversity of our membership base is our key asset. A few members from each member nation/region are nominated or elected as Nation Representatives who reflect the views and opinions of members in their country. These representatives constitute the APSIC Advisory Board and meet at least once every year.
